Computer Repair – Creating System Restore Points Made Easy With Quick Restore Maker

Quick Restore Maker v2

Ever tried to manually make a System Restore point in Windows Vista or Windows 7? It takes a few more clicks than I would like, and for the average user who isn’t aware of this built-in Windows utility, remembering the path to it isn’t so easy. For example, one method is to click:

Start \ right-click Computer \  select Properties \ select System Protection \ select Create \  type a name \ click Create again

There are other ways, but still too many clicks for me, but with the free Quick Restore Maker utility, you just open the file, confirm the User Account Control prompt (if turned-on), and wait while it creates the restore point for you. When it is done, just click Exit. The restore point it generates will be named “QuickRestoreMaker Generated”.

Practical Uses

Before installing a new program, driver, or installing Windows Updates, or making any experimental changes to your system, create a restore point first. That way, you have the capability of reversing any problems created by the change.

Instructions

Download the zip file from The Windows Club website. Scroll down and look for the icon below and click it to begin the download.

Download

Just download and extract the contents on the zip file into a folder. This program is portable so it can run from any location, even a flash drive.

Note: Before you can use this tool, System restore has to be enabled, it is enabled by default, but might have been turned off and forgotten about. If you encounter an error enabling System Restore, try increasing the amount of storage space reserved for System Restore points and try again.

Open extracted folder and double-click QuickRestoreMaker.exe and select “Yes” to allow program to run.

There aren’t any other features to this utility, so that’s it! Hope you enjoy this tool. Credit for development of the Quick Restore Maker goes to The Windows Club (TWC) Forum member UntameDKreationZ.
