Spyware Prevention – Do You Have a Fake Antivirus Program?

If you have been reading our previous posts, you must know by now that the Fake AntiVirus programs are a “real” everyday threat that you must get ready for. You can be surfing the internet with a perfectly clean computer, fast as ever, you trust your antivirus program, you practice what you have learned (up until now) to be safe internet surfing habits…and them BAMMMM!!!! You just got hit by a drive-by download. It can happen in an instant when you unknowingly come across one of these sites through some link you clicked on from your search results…even if you were just searching for something innocent. The bad guys go where the people are and will present their malicious links in areas you would not expect. Of course the usual bad internet neighborhoods are full of them, and for those people that can’t lay off of those sites (adult, gambling, free music, etc) will get infected sooner or later no matter what they do.

I see it everyday and it pains me when a customer could have prevented it. Spyware and virus removal has become the staple of our computer repair business here in Hawaii. It does take a couple decent paid products to help such as ESET Nod32 AntiVirus and another great product called SUPERAntiSpyware. They have a free version, but it is the paid version that offers the real-time protection you need.
